How to reduce an animation-file size
Even More by Akira Kato

Move your mouse over her. The above GIF animation consists of the following two transparent GIF images.
Use only a part of the second image This page is a sequel. If you haven’t seen the previous page, please visit it now. A new window will open up if you click the following link: Now, select the two images as shown below: Once you are finished, click the next button. The program will create an animation and prompt you for animation quality as shown below:
So far everything appears the same as in the previous page. Now comes a change: I have lowered the button at left by one notch. The program will then create a 63-color animation. NOTE: The file size has been reduced to 51 KB from 76 KB. For easier understanding, I’ve added the red squared portion to the above information box. As you see, however, the quality of the above animation has been reduced because of its color reduction. Even though you can reduce the number of color (hence the file size, as well) even further, it would not be worthwhile because its quality would be greatly deteriorated. Is there any way to reduce the size without reducing the quality of the animation? Yes, there is, but with a totally different method. I’ll explain it in the next page: How to reduce an animation-file size with Javascript
