Space out

Etymology (言葉の起こり) A “space” is an area or place. If you “space out”, you mentally drift away from the place you are currently placed, and go off into empty, dreamy space as shown in the above cartoon. “Space” というのはある場所のことです。 “Space out” するということは、 現在いる場所からそれて、何もない空間、あるいは上のマンガのように夢見心地で別の場所にさ迷い込むことです。
